In 2004, I launched an IP strategy and analytics firm, IP Checkups. We are not a law firm. We focus on the intersection of business, technology, and IP. Initially, we helped large corporations monitor and assess new technology development projects. More recently, we focused on helping startups build defensible control positions.
Starting in 2017, we managed the innovation creation and capture program for Canopy Growth corporation. We built out their patent portfolio and innovation program prior to IPO and beyond.
Ever since then, I spent a lot more time with startups.
We launched Future Frontier Capital based on our ability to identify and invest the first check in game-changing startups at the frontier of new technology. We use proprietary software developed by my IP analytics firm to screen for companies working on new technologies in emerging categories.
Additionally, I teach part-time at UC Berkeley at the Fung Institute for Engineering leadership and Haas School of Business.
